AMN CarryMoist® was recently evaluated in replacement for glycerine in the production of dental sticks for dogs. Glycerine is often used to retain moisture and provide flexibility in the products. In the present study, glycerine was replaced by AMN CarryMoist® in different ingredient formulations.

Study Highlights and Results

• The dental sticks in which AMN CarryMoist® was used, maintained firmness and texture after 30 days storage (room temperature, vacuum packed), while water activity was kept at stable levels.
• The use of AMN CarryMoist® was suitable in combination with other pre-gelatinized starches.

This confirms that AMN CarryMoist® can fully replace glycerine in the indicated dental stick formulations, by delivering equal or better performance in terms of product stability and appearance.
